Laura's first Mini Horse Show

2006 AMHA CENTRAL Championship Show

The first night August 9...the show begins in the morning.

My first view.....well...the trucks are normal sized....

I'd never seen a stable with a halter on every door but you can't see one horse!

There's one!

This view is for perspective on just how tiny he is!

And so you know that is NOT a 5 gallon bucket, it's a 2 gallon bucket!!!

For sale....uh oh!

Even the carts have their own blankets!

Well, the show curtains are the same as the "big" horse shows!

One difference is it's AGAINST THE RULES to shoe your horses! All mini's have to jump and drive barefoot!

Stay tuned for more photos, the show begins in the morning!

August 10th the FIRST DAY!

The show grounds early in the morning.

You know it's too early when the moon is still up!!

It was 109 degrees!!! This farm has the right idea, check out the portable air conditioner they brought with them!!

Alright, for those of you that know how big Striongid C buckets are, you can tell the buckets on top are NOT 5 Gallon buckets, they're 2 gallons!! and they look HUGE in the stalls with the horses!

Me with the 2 Gallon bucket..........who would've thought.

If you compare the manure fork to my BOOT,  you can see it's a little SMALLER than normal.

And no my feet aren't THAT BIG!

Breakfast

I know I'm obsessing about this, but that manure fork..... That's a typical 8 quart pail used to carry feed with...........and this is what we MUCK 8 stalls with. YEP 8!

Notice the STRINGS on the buckets, because the stall partitions are SO MUCH HIGHER you have to attach the buckets to strings for the horses to reach them!

And of course, you can save on stalls by doubling up, it's the size of a paddock for these kids!

Mucking stalls!!

Halter Obstacle class, Look familiar PNH-ers?

Uh oh, what have we here.......

Sideways over a pole

Showmanship Class

Halter

One place to put the cart.

You know that whole "horse-eating bicycle thing?"

The first award of the day! A Champion!!

Ever groom your horse sitting in a chair??

Trotting by the judges

Man these pictures are hard to take.

More halter.

The awards from the first day's showing.

Dinner at Casa Viva

See you tomorrow!!

August 11th the SECOND DAY!

Walking the hunter/jumper courses.

Home

It's not fair when you can't reach over the standard.

OK, this little horse is jumping twice his HEIGHT, so that's like my eventer jumping an 11 foot wall (um make that several 11 foot walls!!)

They brought their own stall doors so the mini's could see out!

That's a mister (uh actually 2 misters in front of the fan! It was 109 degrees!!)

Getting the harness hooked up 101

I always wondered how that goes together.

He thought he was still in the jumping class.

Look it's ME!!

These stall dressings always kill me!!

Last class of the day!

Stay tuned for DAY 3 !

 DAY 3!

Driving Obstacle Course!

This was awesome! Talk about a challenge!

Getting ready for my FIRST classes in an AMHA show!

Which we won BOTH of!

There I am in the middle!!

The Youth Costume Class! My favorite was the rodeo bull, rodeo clown and cowboy! The bull was even "anatomically correct"!! (Talk about a good horse.)

Unfortunately the judges didn't agree, and they didn't win.

Racking up the awards!

Tomorrow morning is the LIBERTY CLASS!!

Stay tuned for DAY 4
